Compensation: $60,000-$70,000 annually, plus bonus eligibility


Position Summary

The Quality Manager is responsible for leading quality assurance and control processes within a manufactured housing production facility. This role ensures that all homes produced meet the company's quality standards, HUD code requirements, and customer expectations. The Quality Manager partners closely with production, engineering, and plant leadership to drive continuous improvement, reduce defects, and ensure consistent, high-quality output across all stages of home construction-from framing through final inspection.

Quality Strategy & Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain plant-wide quality control programs aligned with company's corporate standards and HUD/manufactured housing regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local building codes and inspection requirements specific to modular and manufactured homes.
  • Interpret and communicate quality standards, inspection criteria, and regulatory requirements to production teams and leadership.

Production Quality Oversight

  • Lead quality inspections throughout all phases of home construction, including framing, electrical, plumbing, finishing, and final set readiness.
  • Establish and monitor in-line and final inspection processes to ensure consistent product quality across all homes produced.
  • Partner with production managers to identify quality risks and implement corrective actions to minimize rework, scrap, and warranty claims.

Continuous Improvement

  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Total Quality Management (TQM) tools to drive process improvements and defect reduction.
  • Analyze production data, defect trends, and customer feedback to identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Lead plant quality improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, cost reduction, and product reliability.

Team Leadership & Training

  • Supervise and develop Quality Control Inspectors and related staff within the plant.
  • Provide hands-on training to production teams on quality standards, workmanship expectations, and proper construction techniques.
  • Partner with plant leadership to build a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Customer & Warranty Support

  • Investigate customer complaints, warranty issues, and field quality concerns related to finished homes.
  • Collaborate with service, sales, and production teams to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure timely and effective communication of quality-related issues and resolutions.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly manages Quality Control personnel within the manufacturing facility.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, performance management, and disciplinary actions in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Oversees scheduling and assignment of inspection activities to support production flow.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of residential construction, preferably in manufactured or modular housing environments.
  • Proven ability to apply quality systems and continuous improvement methodologies in a production setting.
  • Excellent problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to enforce workmanship standards.

  • Technical proficiency with quality systems, reporting, and data analysis.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of quality management experience in manufacturing, construction, or home building (manufactured housing strongly preferred).
  • Equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience in residential construction or production environments will be considered.
